Towing Through The Bronx. On Thursday, August 8, 2024, Amtrak 2162 (Acela Train Set 6 - AMTK 2131/2130) experienced mechanical problems east of New Haven, Connecticut. After transferring its passengers, ACS-64 AMTK 655 was coupled to the west end of the set, and it was towed to Sunnyside Yard in Queens, New York. The train is seen passing through the Bronx River Bascules. This bridge was built by the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad and opened in 1908. At the time, it was simply designated as “bridge number 3.40", but later took on the more descriptive geographic name.
