6-Car Motor Move. On the night of August 21, 2024, MTA NYCT Subway operated a rare move of 6 R-127/130 "EPs" together from 239 Street Yard to 207 Street Yard via the A Division. This 18 motor fleet was built by Kawasaki in Kobe, Japan in 2 separate orders. They were the first purpose built third rail-powered electric freight motors manufactured for the U.S. in decades and can operate anywhere in the system, but are normally be found on the garbage trains. They do not have air conditioning, and so are usually parked for the summer and replaced with single unit R-62s which are excessed due to the lack of school travel.
