On October 6th, 2024, CTrail train 6410, led by Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Mafersa cab car 1711, makes a station stop at Meriden, Connecticut, on the Hartford Line. This day marks the 20th anniversary of the ex-Virginia Railway Express (VRE) Mafersa fleet’s unveiling to riders at New Haven Union Station. These cars were originally acquired from VRE to expand Shore Line East service but are now primarily used on the Hartford Line.
