Autumn brings so much excitement to ALL of the senses.
Changing leaves delight the eyes with bright, flashing color. The rustling leaves congratulate all of summer's efforts with a grand finale as they applaud each tree with a standing ovation. So what better place to experience autumn than the "Trench", also known as Allegheny Commons Park West. The Trench was originally opened in 1851 and cuts through an area west of downtown Pittsburgh. For a very narrow window in late fall, the Ginko trees erupt in blazing yellow color and immediately begin dropping their leaves resulting in a golden carpet below. Visual element, check. Those Ginko trees produce a fruit which emits a very, VERY pungent odor as do some of the dogs that visit the public dog park. Together you have a place whose smellevision experience is quite different than its visual impression. The trains and trees are there, its all about timing to hit it just right. But I can promise your visit will be a memorable one, it might just make you smell a picture for the first time.
A word of advice, watch where you set your camera bag down and don't wear a new pair of shoes when you visit.
