This signal bridge was removed shortly before 13:00 on September 17, 2007. A few hours before the signals, HO Tower was removed from service as the remaining switches it controlled were remotely handed over to Jacksonville, FL. With the removal of these structures from service, another era in mountain railroading has come to an end as technology takes over. I was lucky enough to be able to witness this small part of history in action about a month earlier when a triple header of P42’s led P0290-18 under the signal bridge and past a manned HO Tower.
