The EB Night Owl was an overnight train, with sleepers, from Washington to Boston. It was also a key mail train, hence the extra headend cars. It's rolling by Shaw's Cove on the Thames River in NEW London. 16 years ago this was just another Amtrak train and while in New London to chase the AM NB Central Vermont job, this picture was an after thought. Lesson learned, take the picture. Everything has changed--engines, train, mail, electrification. Lead unit is an F40PHR and second unit is F40PH #410, an ex GO Transit unit (#510) sold to Amtrak in 1990.
