An O-gauge New Haven F3 done up in Herbert Matter's Knoll and Associates patch scheme enjoys being on display in the beautiful Cass Gilbert-designed New Haven Connecticut station on Amtrak's 3rd National Train Day. The station is triumph of preservation. It is hard to imagine now but for ten years it was boarded up, rotting and falling down. I remember you had to go around back to get on the train. (See what over $16 million dollars will get you? That's '80's dollars too!) Note too the soon-to-be-replaced Solari announcement board. Funny to think how the once high-tech flippy indicators will be passed over by glowy LED's. And thanks to a fellow RP'er pointing it out, find the frowning face above the Solari! :-)
