America's Central Port's freshly painted SD40-2 poses for pictures coupled with Illinois Terminal-painted Respondek 3086. The new scheme was unveiled on October 28th, 2011, for sponsors of the "America's Central Port" project, most notably Jerry Costello. The Illinois Democratic congressman helped the project earn an 8.5 million dollar grant to develop the port into an industrial hub. This shot was taken 19 days before the ceremony, and the lettering under the cab had not yet been applied. Even though it is unfinished the 1000 is still flying the American flag proudly and showing off its nose mounted bell, a distinct reminder of its CNW heritage.
