The Milwaukee Art Museum hosted a special exhibit in 2003 honoring hometown industrial designer Brooks Stevens. The largest piece exhibited was the Cedar Rapids Skytop Lounge observation car, one of four that Stevens designed for the Milwaukee Road's streamlined Chicago-to-Minneapolis Hiawatha trains. Cedar Rapids had recently been restored and would enter excursion service the following year. The maroon and orange art deco classic dovetails nicely with the Santiago Calatrava-designed brise soleil atop the museum's addition opened in 2001.
