J-class #6490 was cranked out of the Altoona Shops as a part of the war effort in '43 & '44, and, like this one, all were eventually scrapped. But on this date, it was captured in color taking coal at the St. Clair Ave. enginehouse at Columbus. It's time was running out, but it still would work a coal train on the Sandusky Sub before going to the boneyard.
