Remarks & Notes |
There are some days that you will never forget. Such was the case when we had extreme cold in February, 1979 and the temperature was 24 below 0. We got to Hornell and stopped at the crew change point and were told that the railroad was shut down due to the extreme cold. We took some photo's of this parked D&H Westbound and then drove 90 miles up to Buffalo. Same thing there - nothing was moving. At least the heater in my truck was working. The guys in MN and ND probably will laugh at what we consider "extreme" cold, but in Western NY we don't usually have a lot of days when it gets below 0. |
