One of the things I am finding on the MTA subway system is infrastructure that is long gone on the big main lines. Of the several subway towers I have seen, all but one were in good shape and I assume in operation. The tower operator at 111th St. on the No. 7 line in Queens is seen stepping outside while a Flushing bound evening rush hour train of R-62's, built in the 1980's, trundles by. She did so for only ten seconds because the wind chill was a brutal 10 degrees this mid-March evening.
