Farewell to Number 4. Portland's Eastern Promenade is alive with walkers, runners, dog-walkers and yes, railfans too, as the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Company's Monson Locomotive #4 pulls her 4-car passenger special toward the run-around track near the Portland Company Complex. With this day having been advertised as the last service day for #4, there was a large contingent of New England narrow gauge fans prowling the promenade all day with their cameras. There were even a few folks from outside New England who made the trek to Maine for one last look a the little Forney in action. The two fellows standing tall on the snow pile on the far right are none other than RP's own Andrew and Chris Blaszczyk, who like me, stayed and shot until the rains came later that evening.
