Morning mixed to Keystone. Nevada Northern Locomotives 40 and 93 haul a mixed consist south into Robinson Canyon on the way to the mines district at Keystone.
Although I have seen photos of the Nevada Northern Railway Museum double-heading on its regular passenger trains during the summer, this is the first time I could ever recall seeing it done on one of the Winter Photo Shoots. In this case, they coupled up just about every piece of historic NN rolling stock that can legally leave the yard, except for the wreck crane. Perhaps the consist was not exactly prototypical, but the combination of the two locomotives, the heavy train and the steep grades on the Keystone line produced an impressive demonstration of what operations on this line must have been like back in the early part of the 20th century.
