Since beginning operations in 1982, the Catskill Mountain Railroad has dreamed of operating to this location, Glenford Dike along side the Ashokan Reservoir. A full five miles further than any revenue train has run in the past. Trains have not been to this location since the last Conrail train in 1976. Finally reaching this monumental accomplishment has been a last ditch effort by the wonderful people seen in the picture. The railroad has been in a long standing battle with the Ulster County, NY. The county wants to rip up the rails and replace it with a trail. The railroad has fought long and hard to remain but as of this time it appears they have unfortunately lost to the county. Their lease has not been renewed and ends May 30th, 2016.
