Station Stop: Alna Center. A WW&F mixed train observes the red flag displayed at the tiny station in Alna Center, Maine and slows for a station stop to load locally produced milk, bound for the Turner Center Creamery just over 6 miles to the south in Wiscasset. The Station Agent and a Railroad Courier prepare to make short work of the loading operation and exchange of the necessary paperwork.
This re-creation was performed by the volunteers of the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum during the second of two Spring 2016 Photo Excursions, this one occurring on April 28th. The weather for this trip could not have been more different than on the first one a month earlier, which featured freezing rain and temperatures in the mid-20s. On this trip, there was beautiful sunshine, with just a few patchy cumulus, and a very bearable high of about 50F.
