The Twin Cities & Western is celebrating its 25th anniversary this weekend. To mark the occasion they're operating a passenger train along the line to Montevideo. Thursday is designated for public officials, Friday is for customers, and Saturday for employees. I was fortunate enough to be invited by a local economic developer from Redwood Falls to ride with the public officials on Thursday. Several state representatives were present, as well as county commissioners, the officers of the railroad, and a staff member from Senator Amy Klobuchar's office who read a letter she sent with her congratulations. The Friends of the 261 sent along several vintage passenger cars including the Cedar Rapids observation car. This picture shows the train as it arrived in Chanhassen for boarding before we departed westward. We would go as far as Bongards before the 2013 took the lead to bring us back east. It was a great ride to celebrate a great shortline.
