Completed in 1904 by the San Pedro, Los Angeles, and Salt Lake Railway the cement arch bridge spanning the Santa Ana River continues to serve the line's successor, Union Pacific, well over 100 years after first opening to commerce. On a sunny afternoon an eastbound stack train bound for interchange with the Norfolk Southern sails across the impressive 984' trestle near Riverside, CA. Leading the eastbound stacks is one of Norfolk Southern's 20 'heritage' painted locomotives, in this case NS SD70ACe 1065 wearing colors reminiscent of the Savanna & Atlanta Railroad.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
