This unit was built for Commonwealth Edison as CWEX 11 in February 1942, builder number 1632, frame number E469-1. The pseudo clerestory roof was a modification installed by EMD to clear coal unloading mechanisms at the power plant. The engine passed to Cargill and ran with CRGX reporting marks, and also acquired the present paint scheme. It also passed to BioFuel Energy Corp and ran with BEPX marks before going to Midwest Locomotive, and received MWLX marks.
Here it is seen in The Terry Spur at UP Neff Yard awaiting placement at Midwest, located near Stadium Drive between the KC Metro Sub. and the KCS Pittsburg Sub.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
