The C&O Historical Society's 1948 F3Au Chesapeake & Ohio #8016 This locomotive made an appearance at the NCTM's "Streamliners" event and is seen here on display at the Bob Julian Roundhouse. The locomotive is a former Clinchfield F3 (No. 800) that was rebuilt as an F3Au in 1952. For all intents and purposes, it's an F7. It operated for the Seaboard System in 1982 being renumbered as #116 a year later. She got another identity as CSX #116 in 1987 before being sold to the historical society in CLifton Forge, VA were it was painted in 2002 to represent the C&O. The operational unit was being leased to the Potomac Eagle Scenic before its trip to Spencer, though this may no longer be the case. Rumor has it there was (is) a deal in the works to trade this locomotive for an inoperable E unit with the new owner's hopes of seeing this locomotive regain its former Clinchfield colors. If so, this locomotive would be relocated to Tennessee. Or not, lol. Stay tuned!
