It's late summer of 1947, and the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western has completed its order of 24 EMD F3(A) and 12 F3(B). The end of steam on the Route of Phoebe Snow is fast approaching, and to mark the occasion, the DL&W set up a publicity photo at the Mattes Street tower with an A-B-A trio.
