Gotta love steam in the snow. With the cylinder cocks wide open, WW&F Engineman James Patten takes Locomotive #9 south on the main line toward the Sheepscot Station Platform, where he'll tie onto the passenger consist and take it to the museum's car barn for the night.
One of the things that sets steam locomotives apart from more contemporary power is the display that they put on in the cold winter air. For this year's Victorian Christmas event at the WW&F, we were also blessed with a fresh blanket of snow in Alna, which made the resulting images even more special.
