"NYAR M3 Scrap Move at LIC"
New York & Atlantic Railway's RS-20 crew prepares to shuttle 4 FICX flats loaded with LIRR M3s from Long Island City to Fresh Pond Yard via the Lower Montauk. The 2 M3 pairs (LI 9822/ LI 9821) and (LI 9820/ LI 9819) were de-trucked and loaded onto flat cars to be transported to Frontier Metals in Ohio for scrapping. These pieces of equipment are just a few of many retired LIRR equipment that will meet the torch in the upcoming months.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
