A new era establishes itself on the former Pennsylvania and Reading lines from which SEPTA operates its passenger trains. ACS-64 No. 904 makes an appearance on the Reading side captured here in nice evening light at Woodbourne station, a popular railfan hangout in Langhorne, PA. Pushing a set of Bombardier Comet cars east towards Yardley, PA, the set will terminate in West Trenton, NJ. No. 905 is in rotation, as well, suggesting the end is (very) near for the remaining 2 AEM-7's and sole ALP-44. SEPTA upped its order of 12 units to 15 with an option for 3 more. The first ACS-64 was delivered on December 14, 2017 and entered service on the Paoli/Thorndale Line on July 11, 2018. The additional units will relieve the aging GE Silverliner IV's and supplement the current fleet with the arrival of multi-level cars in 2019. UPDATE: Rumors suggest as of 8/29/18 all AEM-7's have been replaced by ACS-64's, with SEPTA's loan ALP-44 (No. 2308) on borrowed time.
