"LIRR Cabin Car for Scrap"
One of Long Island Rail Road's surviving hacks sits on a flatcar along with another in Holban Yard shortly after being detrucked and prepped for transport to Frontier Metals for scrapping. Built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1916 as PRR "Cabin Car" #477604 and acquired by the LIRR in 1928, C-2 served for many years along with several others before being retired and sent to storage in Hoblan Yard. In 2017, Frontier Metals was awarded the scrapping contract for several pieces of vintage equipment and began scrapping later that year. These are some of the last pieces to go.
