Back when KCS was using rebuilt GP40s for just about everything except coal/grain unit trains, an ex-CN GP led an intermodal west through downtown Birmingham, assisted by a DM&E (ex-Milwaukee) SD40-2, a couple of SD45 rebuilds, and either an SD50 or SD60.
Photos taken in the Deep South--primarily Alabama and Georgia--from the 1970s to the early 2000s. Featured railroads include the ICG, the West Point Route, SCL, Southern, Frisco, and even KCS.
