The 1988 NRHS convention was plagued with logistical issues, and many of the scheduled excursions started late and only got later. The July 24 round trip to the Blue Mountain & Reading was no exception. Upon arrival at Temple, Pennsylvania, the patrons boarded a BM&R excursion to Hamburg, and Nickel Plate 765 was whisked into a siding for coaling, watering, and servicing. Members of the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society, stewards of the Lima Berkshire, seem to be intent on no further schedule erosion as they create a beehive of activity around their steed.
