The RS-1s did everything for GM&O/ICG around Montgomery except power the 'big' road freights. Single Alcos made daily transfers to the other yards in Montgomery, pulling sometimes huge cuts over the hump between their tower near Bell Street and Union Station. This transfer - led by one of the few RS-1s to get IC colors - is probably going to have to wait for that L&N freight ahead to get past the switch to the connection over to Clisby Park. L&N/SCL sometimes ran through Union's train shed (visible over the trees), but I do not recall ICG ever doing so. It's very late on a summer afternoon, which is why the construction crews have gone for the day, allowing me to walk out onto the unfinished Interstate 65 bridge over the tracks (and the Alabama River) to get this shot.
