Diesels on the subway tracks! The MTA New York City Transit Subway has a substantial fleet of diesel powered engines to move work trains around the system's 469 stations when the 3rd rail power needs to be turned off. At Marble Hill–225th Street in New York, New York on the 1 Line, we catch R-156 OL924 (Motive Power Industries MP8AC-3) with a flat car to distribute weight over a larger area and Mantis Crane 283. This was the south end of a work area on November 19, 2016 where replacement of components including track, track panels, and 3rd rail was underway.
