For years, Colorado’s Minturn yard has sat empty, rusty and forlorn, as seen on June 4, 2018. The sand tower is now gone and weeds grow between the rails that once supported interstate commerce. On the left is the old railroad hotel, now serving as an apartment building. In the background is the red brick depot used in the Rio Grande era, since torn down by Union Pacific. Recent news has surfaced about this Tennessee Pass line being leased from the UP for operation. Whoever might operate this line again has some work cut out for them first.
