About 45 miles west of Salt Lake City on the south side of the Great Salt Lake, is the siding and junction point of Delle. This is on the former Western Pacific 7th Sub, now known as the Union Pacific Shafter Sub. Delle is the starting point for the 11 mile long Rowley Industrial Lead that runs north from Delle along the west shore of the Great Salt Lake. There are only two businesses on the branch one of which is U.S. Magnesium Company's refinery and plant at the very end of the branch. They refine solar concentrated Great Salt Lake brine water by electrolysis here, into pure metallic Magnesium ingots. Today, the UP 3837 is hustling right past the Rowley lead on its way west to the hazardous waste disposal facilities at Clive. Eventually, it will end up 120 miles west of Salt Lake City at Wendover, Utah on the Nevada State Line where the crew will spend the night and then return back east to Salt Lake City the next day
