A Long Drink. The fireman on today's Train 216, Dylan Launer, has climbed atop the tender of Cumbres & Toltec 487 and swung the water column stationed at Cumbres over to give the 1925-built product of Baldwin a well deserved drink after bringing nine cars up the 4% grade. Well, not entirely up the grade yet, as the water column sits almost squarely on the crest of Cumbres Summit, meaning that almost all of the cars remain on the grade on the western side of the pass...and that 487 will have a little more work to do before it can enjoy drifting downhill to Osier.
