The old and the less old. The star of the show, former FEC 148, rests at the south locomotive shop being serviced prior to operating the last excursion of an excursion filled weekend running between Clewiston and Moore Haven as the "Moore Haven Meteor" as its replacement from the 70's, GP11 #312, sits quietly on an adjacent track waiting for its call to service. While the 148 was built for the Florida East Coast in 1920, and spent its entire revenue career in Florida, prior to being sold by US Sugar, #312 was originally a GP9 built for the Illinois Central as their #9331 in 1957 before being rebuilt in their Paducah, KY shops as #8741. In the back, the "Georgia 300" private car can be seen. This car has the distinction of having carried several presidents over the years.
