Rescue mission-
A foreman was working ahead of the train on this day when his hi-rail truck suffered a transmission failure at Humboldt junction. When the Humboldt turn approached, the crew cut off their cars at the nearest grade crossing, ran the light power out to the junction and used a chain connected to the front of the 1323 to tow the disabled truck back to the crossing. Before long a railroad employee had arrived with another pickup and pulled it clear of the track to be retrieved later by a wrecker, allowing the train to continue on its way.
