We were there to shoot the 1702, the railroad's steam engine. But I had not shot the GSMR's newest diesel (at the time) the ex-Santa Fe GP30. So while my friend swent back to the car to start the chase, I waited to get my shots f the end of the train. The steam engine powers the train to Nantahala while the diesels bring it back to Bryson City.
GSMR 2467 was buit as ATSF 1269 in 1963. GSMR bought it from Larry's Truck & Electric. Great Smoky Mountains Railroad upgraded it to Dash 3 specs after this shot was made.
