It's a foggy night on a chilly December evening, as Amtrak's westbound Sunset Limited makes it's station stop in Maricopa, which has been known as the Phoenix stop along the Sunset Limited route since 1996. Leading the way is one of Amtrak's 50th Anniversary heritage locomotives, this one honoring the Phase III scheme the Dash 8 locomotives had in the 90's, referred by many railfans out there as the "Pepsi Can" paint scheme. This is 160's first run to the West Coast since mid October.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
