This beautiful 4-6-2, number 631, was built in June 1928 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in Eddystone, Pennsylvania, for the Southern Pacific Railroad. According to the specifications listed on the back of the builder's card, in working order the total engine and tender weight was 604,900 lbs, and it had a tractive force of 43,660 lbs. My great, great Uncle Robert F. McKee, Sr., worked as a design engineer at Baldwin. This Baldwin Locomotive Works builders photo card is from the John R. Doughty collection.
