For the very first time, GP39PH-3C MARC 71 leads a revenue train post-rebuild. This former GP39H-2 was sent to be rebuilt by Progress Rail. When the rebuilds returned to MARC, they had to go through acceptance and training with the mechanical crews, then eventually test trains on the mainline. And finally, MARC 71 is getting back up to track speed after departing Rockville on its revenue debut.
From B&O RDCs to MARC bilevel coaches pulled by electric locomotives and diesels, the Maryland commuting scene has evolved, while trolleys, aka light rail vehicles, are back.
