Long and Winding PATH.
Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) PA-5 car no. 5808 is the lead unit on a 9-car Newark-bound train seen just east of Harrison Station, while another train races away towards Jersey City and New York. As part of a larger project to improve service, stations along the Newark-WTC route were recently extended, which coupled with the delivery of new PA-5 cars from Kawasaki enabled 9-car trains to begin operating on the route in early 2023. Initially only a few trains during rush hours operated with 9 cars, with all others operating with the previous standard of 8 cars, but the number of 9-car trains has steadily increased since then.
Two rapid transit lines, PATCO and PATH, take commuters to Philadelphia and New York, respectively. Metro North locomotives and rolling stock often show up on NJ Transit northern lines and SEPTA terminates routes in Trenton and West Trenton.
