Ever so often, something very bad would happen on the Santa Fe transcon. The main would get blocked, and Santa Fe was forced to run it's hottest trains over the Union Pacific. It was an awesome treat for a Santa Fe lover as I was. They would always have a UP leader because of cab control requirements over the overland portion. This was definitely a hot shot Santa Fe. Pig train after the UP SD40-2. GP40 3801, GP50, B40-8, and either a GP40X, GP50, or GP60.
