Remarks & Notes
A few days before the reopening of the second tunnel tube of the Gotthard Base Tunnel on September 2, 2024, which had been closed since the derailment in August 2023, a heavy freight train runs over the 2.6 % steep Gotthard mountain route between Amsteg-Silenen and Gurtnellen. The two SBB Re 620 # 012 and # 083 (Re 6/6 # 11612 and # 11683) with over 21000 hp together are pulling the 1381-ton steel train 49025 from Swiss Steel in Emmenbrücke via Lucerne-Rotkreuz-Arth Goldau-Gotthard mountain route-Bellinzona-Ceneri base tunnel to Chiasso (-Lecco/Italy). The maximum train hook load on the mountain section is 1400 tons, taking into account the screw couplings. The maximum load for a single Re 620 is 800 tons over the mountain route.
