Whoa! Now that's impressive. Kinda reminiscent of Launch Control. Thanks for sharing.

I worked at JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) in California in the eighties...their mission control centers are nothing like this at all, Yikes! Thanks for sharing.

Wow, wonder if you can patch TV into any of the screens...
|
They can put on basically anything on any screen. They have the weather channel on when they've got severe weather affecting their system.
|
That's too cool. I never even thought something like this existed for railroads!

You'd think that out of that many screens, one of them would be looking at RailPictures.net.
|
Thats so cool! I'm shocked though w/ the info on the big blue screens. They don't seem to have any useful info to daily operations. I guess motivation or something w/ on time performance. Maybe some natural light would be better than deathly screens. That would be SO cool to get a patch of whats going on. Gives you nearly the same info as listening to the scanner for 2 hrs w/ a pad and paper. Anyone heard of ACTS Monitor?

I've been there before, very cool place. The building is modeled like an old railroad station
|
Very neat picture! Thanks for sharing.

I know they can look up anything on those computers, I've talked to a dispatcher who uses one of his computers to view streaming webcams of the main yard and Passenger terminal in his territory.

It's funny.. A nearly Nation Wide rail system is controlled and observed from a 4-6 acre building, How times have changed indeed. It is a neat sight though, I enjoyed looking at details, thanks for sharing!
