Great work, David! Not only is the photograph spectacular, but your account of the moment is pure poetry. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Very nice Dave! The elements did indeed come together for you.

Great image, David. Congrats on the Photo of the day!

Great image. You started with a great inspiration and improved on it a bit. Thanks to both you and Steve.

Dave,
What a fantastic image!
I have to say that some of the best images that I have ever seen, here or any where, have come from the PNW! Work like this from photographers like You, Steve Carter, Ross Fotheringham, Robert Scott, and many others really sets the PNW apart. The area is full of wonderful scenery but it is also full of great photographers like yourself who capture the true beauty of railroading and Mother Nature for all to see.

Unreal! This is a fantastic shot, Dave.
|
Good job yet again, Dave; of course I would expect nothing but quality from you.
|
Brilliant! One of the best photos this site has.
|
Great Shot Dave! Outstanding!!!

I live not far from where you made this image & it makes me aware that what seems "common place" has a magical quality when seen through another's eyes. Nice image. Thanks for opening up my eyes.

This truly is spectacular! Sure you were probably cold and wet after the shot- but the result makes it all worthwhile. Thanks for sharing!

This reminds me of Walt Disney or a well-made cartoon. It is one of the most incredible photos that I have ever seen.

Congrats on winning the 2009 Trains Photo Contest with this shot! It's a classic.

Dave... CONGRATULATIONS on winning Grand Prize in the 2009 TRAINS magazine photo contest!! I was sitting at the dining room table paging through the new issue of TRAINS and when I came to your photo and saw your name, I shouted out, "ALRIGHT DAVE!!" My wife gave me a strange look, which was my cue to hold up the magazine and say, "I KNOW this GUY!!" She thinks your photo is awesome, too! I want to see some awesome shots from your trip to Winterail with your new Canon 50D, which I don't believe you'll have any problems producing! Also, have fun railfanning with Brian Matsumoto and Kathi Kube the next day! Clearly, you shot a "winner" and they picked a "winner!" Again, CONGRATS and enjoy your new DSLR and trip next month!
