The works were actually sited were the 1930s era signal box (tower) is, in fact the final parts of the old works buildings were not demolished until the signal box was taken out of use the following year, as the back wall of the signal box was actually part of the old erecting shops wall. The sidings were the EMUs stand have always been carriage sidings (even way back in the LBSCR days). To the left, were the wagons and canopy are, was were the old Brighton locomotive running shed and turntable used to be.
