This is one of the few old rock island cabooses still in UP's service. This one is used as a snow bus which is used to transport crews to the trains when the weather is bad and it is unsafe to go by car.

That caboose looks like it just came off the assembly line. they did a great job fixing it up.

FYI, this caboose is the ex-SP 4750, a C-50-9 Southern Pacific bay window caboose - not a Rock Island caboose. The SP4750 spent it's last years in front of the UP Cheyenne Steam Program shop and was repainted by that team in shop for both UP Steam excursions and "snowbus" crew shuttle service as now being witnessed this winter out in the heavily snow-clogged plains. Looking at the specific custom rooftop detail (conduit added by the SP), bay window size/placement, specifically-placed SP vents, underframe and end platform detail all confirm this is the same SP Hack:
