This was probably the worst dinner train that our local Model Railroad Club ever rode. We did not know that there was no air conditioning on the train. The day of our trip turned out to be very hot and we all suffered greatly. I can't imagine how anyone could stand to cook food in the kitchen that day, but the food was rather tasty. Our version of this train included an old IC baggage cat that carried a generator of some sort. It was so hot that I remember taking my young daughter and boarding the engine, which had been run around the train for the return trip. I sat on the front walkway in the very middle, with Jennifer seated on my lap, with five or six other members standing behind us. Others were standing on the sides of the ling hood. This was not very hazardous as the train had to run very slowly due to very bad track. Almost every track joint was low and the joints were out of alignment so there was a continuous rocking motion from side to side. I felt sorry for my wife and the other women in our group as none of the windows on the dinner and coach could be opened. As soon as we returned to Hopkinsville, and started home Jennifer went to sleep and slept all the way back to Lexington.
