Any idea why they welded the metal box onto the right side of the cab? Just to protect the electronics, but I'm just guessing. Or was there a more serious reason relating to someone's serious injury or death inside the cab? Just odd that I've never seen that done following a wreck.

First, 15 was damaged, then 17 and 18 (all about five years ago) and now 20? Man, this railroad sure has some bad luck!

Re: Greg Maybe to keep the elements out of the electronics? Only other explanation I could think of other then the ones you've already listed.

For infos: QCM (ArcelorMittal) #20 hit a rockfall on May 30th 2011 out of Port Cartier. It derailled and leaked diesel. Of the three crew members, only one suffered minor injuries.
