With Norfolk Southern having difficulty dealing with New York regarding replacement of Portage Viaduct, purchase of the former D&H between Sunbury and Mechanicville, Saratoga or Whitehall would be a more attractive option for NS. The line to Montreal from Scnenectady/Mohawk would likely be taken over by a shortline or regional operator.

This photo is noteworthy not only for the CP ops in PA, but for the derelict steel mill in the background. It will likely be a matter of a couple years before it too disappears.

Bethlehem Steel complex bought by the Smithsonian. Parts of the property being redeveloped. Makes a nice backdrop for daily concerts during Musikfest, with colored floods lighting up the massive equipment. I think they'll leave it there, as a tribute to the many families who made their living there in a bygone era. A LOT of jobs were lost when that plant shut down.
