Southern Railway at one time had a yard of some type at Huntingburg, where they had stored a number of retired steam locomotives. The shop foreman and president of The Stearns Coal and Lumber Company, of Stearns, Kentucky, traveled to Huntingburg to inspect these to find some replacement power for their operation. They bought three Mikado 2-8-2 locomotives, one of these became a large part of The Southern Railway's famous Steam fantrip operation, running with her restored number. That same locomotive is being totally rebuilt today for the Norfolk Southern's new steam program, and when work is finished number 4501 will live again to please a new generation of Steam Fans
