This would be a GP40, as the GP40X model was brought to BNSF roster by the Santa Fe, not the BN. As the test model of the GP50, only four railroads owned GP40X units, the ATSF, Southern, SP and UP. In an earlier use of a GP40X designation, which preceded the GP40 model, was black EMD demo 433A, that was built on a GP35 frame, using flared radiators. It was eventually sold to the Illinois Central, where following a wreck, it was rebuilt to a GP35u.

I am so sorry I got the model number wrong - the roster I consulted didn't even have this number. I figured it was either a GP40, GP40-2 or a GP40M - so I picked the next number in the series, the X! Oh well, it is the end of the world as we know it soon, so it won't matter. ;)
